Fay H. Williams, age 90 of Grovetown, GA, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister went to join her Lord and Savior on Tuesday August 13, 2024.
Fay grew up in the Boaz, Attalla, Alabama area. She married the love of her life in 1951. She and her husband Charles relocated to Augusta when Charles was stationed at Fort Gordon. After starting their family in 1955 they decided to make Augusta their home.
Fay was adored by everyone who knew her. She loved her family unconditionally and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who fondly called her “nanny and great-nanny.” She was known for her gentle nature, her love of Christ, and her beautiful smile. She spent a lifetime helping raise and nurture her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved telling them about Jesus. Fay loved sharing stories of her childhood and her life.
Fay leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, compassion, and faith.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Charles Furman Williams, Sr.; beloved son: Charles Furman Williams, Jr.; loving mother: Effie Mae Holderfield; loving father: Earl Holderfield and beloved sister: Shirley Higgins (Richard).
Family members include her children: Rita Beck (Danny), Sharon Lever (The late George) and Debbie Swiger (Robert); grandchildren: Dan Beck (Jennie), Brandi Schmidt (Rodney), Wendy Fava (Marc), Melissa Storey (Stan), Tiffany Weldon (Robert), Alex Lever (Joey), Ashley Williams (Ross), Joshua Williams (Jackie), Dalton Williams (Selena) and Jenny Hamlin and sister: Emily Kay Lemoine; 27 great grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who she loved and adored.
The funeral service will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Robert Swiger officiating. Following the funeral an interment service will be private for the immediate family. Pallbearers will be Wayne Daniel Beck, Jr., Joshua Furman Williams, Dalton Stephenson Williams, Austin Rivers Gresham and Jacob Harris Gresham. Honorary pallbearers are Ethan Kyle Edenfield, Daniel Alexander Gonzalez, Rodney Francis Schmidt, IV, Nicholas Grant Williams, Nathaniel Patrick Schmidt and Jamie Ray Odom.
