Faye Chaney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hernando Funeral Home on Sep. 19, 2024.
Faye Bryant Chaney, born in Petersburg, Virginia on May 4, 1949, passed away on September 17, 2024, at her home in Hernando, Mississippi. She was surrounded by family.
Faye was born to Collis Lee Bryant, Sr. and Mabel Daughtry Bryant and raised in Petersburg.
After Faye worked for 20 years in the transportation business she transitioned to finance. Her passion was always for history and especially ancestorial history. This kept her active pursuing genealogy and participating in numerous civic organizations. Faye was a direct descendant of William Hooper, North Carolina representative to the Continental Congress, which permitted her membership into the Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence (DSDI). She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Southern Dames of America, the Red Hat Society, and served as president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Petersburg. Faye was a member of Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando, Mississippi where she served in the Women's Ministry as a Secrets Savored mentor. Beyond her formal accomplishments and memberships, Faye was known and loved by numerous communities. As we reflect on her life, many from relatives, co-workers, church members and neighbors have said how much their lives were enriched by Faye's gracious, loving spirit. The common thread in all of this was her love of Jesus and his Word. She demonstrated His grace throughout her life in her relationships and daily interactions.
Faye is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jack Chaney; daughter, Delores "Lora" Faye King Snyder and her husband David Edward Snyder; son, William Henry King III; sister-in-law, Nancy Cheely Bryant; sister, Charlotte Johnston Bentley; brother, Collis Lee Bryant, Jr. and his wife Anna Antis Bryant; brother, Jeffrey Vance Bryant and his wife Nancy Karen Keyser-Bryant; grandsons, Dustin Thomas Snyder and his wife, Meagan Stewart Snyder, Dalton Bryant Snyder and his wife, Avery Glover Snyder, and Davis Patrick Snyder.
Faye was preceded in death by father, Collis Lee Bryant Sr.; mother, Mabel Daughtry Bryant; brother, Barrett Randall Bryant Sr.; brother-in-law, Hugh Bo Bentley.
We will all miss Faye/Mama/Grandma tremendously but are comforted in knowing that she is in heaven where there is no more pain and no more tears. We hope you can join us as we celebrate her life Sunday, September 22, 2024. Family visitation hours will take place at Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando, MS from 4:30pm until funeral begins at 6:00pm. The graveside service will be Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00am at the Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia.
Flowers and/or donations to the veteran support organization Tunnels to Towers are welcome.
The family of Faye wishes to extend our sincere thanks to West Cancer Clinic, Baptist Memorial Hospital Desoto, Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis, Specialty Hospice and all the wonderful personal care assistants, nurses and doctors who spent time caring for this special lady during her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Faye demonstrated a great love for God and country. She is a dear DAR sister who will be missed. Phil. 3:20-21 "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
