Faye Chastain Obituary
Glenda “Faye” Gibson Chastain, 75, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Atrium Health Floyd while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gordon County, Georgia on November 7, 1947, the daughter of the late Harker Gibson and Sally Dell Crump Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pennie Chastain Hobgood on April 4, 2023; a sister, Marjorie Willix McElroy in 2022, and by a special friend, Betty Jo Cantrell in 2020.
She was a licensed beautician having began her career with Roxi’s House of Beauty in Calhoun in 1966 and later opened Faye’s Beauty Shop where she remained until retirement. She was a member of the 1965 graduating Class of Calhoun High School and a 1966 graduate of Rome Beauty School. She loved her family dearly and cherished her friends.
Survivors include her husband, James “Richard” Chastain to whom she was married for 57 years; a daughter, Heather Chastain McDougle and her husband Alan; son-in-law, Kerry Hobgood; grandchildren, Ashley (Ric) Collazo, Molli Beth (Nick) Price, Adam (Melissa) McNeese, Zack McDougle, and Alli Grace McDougle; great-grandchildren, Hadlee McNeese, Wyatt Gravley, Silas McNeese, Lane Cooper Price, and Elliott Price; first cousins, Barbara Crump Gee and Shirley Crump; special friend, Cheryl Wilson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Faye Chastain will be held Tuesday, October 3rd at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 174 Mosteller’s Mill Road, Adairsville, Georgia 30103. Rev. Bryan Cox, and Rev. Winford Casey will officiate. Music will be arranged by Karli Rogers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Steve McDougle officiating at the graveside. Pallbearers serving will include, Clay Brown, Adam McNeese, Nick Price, Kerry Hobgood, Zack McDougle, and Alan McDougle. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Calhoun Fire Department.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 2nd at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Adairsville between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
