Faye Edwards Obituary
went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, August 13th at
Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
surrounded by family.
She was born on March 28 th,1939 in Fayetteville, North Carolina
to the late Columbus Booth and Nellie Sullivan Melvin.
She was the 2nd born of 6 children
Prior to Graduating Harding High School Faye married Alton Ben
"A.B" Edwards Jr. March 28 th,1957 in Charlotte NC
She worked as the Secretary to the Postmaster for the United
States Post Office in Charlotte for 30 years receiving multiple
awards and accolades during her time there, boasting a typing
skill of upwards of 100 plus words a minute.
After retiring to the beach Faye lived life to the fullest through her
children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but most
importantly through shopping, decorating and beautifying
everything around her.
She was the brightest and most generous soul and never
encountered a stranger.
In addition to her family, she will be leaving behind a legacy of
kindness, strength and lipstick.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two of her sons, Mark
and Michael Edwards (Jennifer), sisters Paula Leonard and
Patricia Jean "PJ" Swann.
She is survived by her husband A.B. Edwards of North Myrtle
Beach, daughter Deborah Edwards Petty (Johnny) of Concord,
son Christopher Edwards (Genni) of Harrisburg and her 8
grandchildren; Ben Edwards (Jessica), Angel Faye Edwards,
Mark Petty (Ashley), Jennifer Petty (Keshia), Summerlyn
Edwards, Rowdy Edwards, Sullivan Edwards and Lilah Edwards,
and 4 great grandchildren; Sonja, Emily, Alicia and Javy
Segoviano and sisters Martha Morrison (Hayward) and Becky
Jenkins and brother Larry Melvin (Linda).
Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial, 4601
Freedom Dr, Charlotte, NC 28208 Monday August 19 th,2024 at
11:00 a.m. followed by a reception for family and friends at The
Hornets Nest, 6301 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216.
