Faye Waters Grimes

NASHVILLE – Faye Waters Grimes, age 75, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Born in Nash County, NC on August 12, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Armon Waters and Edith Savage Waters.
Faye grew up on a farm and enjoyed spending time outside with her Father and her horse Josie. She graduated from North Edgecombe High School where she met and married the love of her life, Jimmy. They relocated to Rocky Mount where Faye worked for Rocky Mount Pediatrics for nine years. She then made a career change to Boddie-Noell Enterprises (BNE) where she spent the next twenty-six years. Faye loved her career with BNE where she was able to create lasting friendships and be involved in the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce. Once retired, she spent her time supporting Jimmy in his position as Nash County Sheriff and spending every minute she could with her grandson, Chandler. Faye began each day listening to videos of him singing and playing guitar. She shared his talents with anyone that would listen. She enjoyed traveling to the NC Mountains and spending time in their RV at their favorite Pungo River spot, Riverside Campground. She was an accomplished, self-taught seamstress and loved to crochet baby blankets, hats, and scarfs for friends and family. Faye spent her life as a devoted wife, Mother, and Nana.
Faye is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jimmy Grimes; her daughter and husband, Kelcey and Eric Gazaway of Nashville; her grandson, Chandler Gazaway; her brothers, Butch Waters (Jean) of Pinetops, Ronnie Waters (Glenda) of Tarboro; her sister, Shirley Waters of Tarboro; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Faye's Life will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Timmy Tucker officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
A Private Family Inurnment Service will take place at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum.
