Faye was born August 18, 1952 in Davidson County, NC daughter of the late Grady Franklin Rattz and Eder Dean Ross Rattz. Faye’s early years were spent in Lexington, where she attended elementary school before her family moved to Germanton, NC. She graduated from North Forsyth High School and pursued further education at Wingate College, earning a two-year associate degree in business. Faye dedicated eight years of her professional life to the State of North Carolina Department of Correction and spent twenty-two years as a financial officer at Mount Pleasant Middle School.
Upon her marriage to Rick Huneycutt, the couple made their home in Mount Pleasant, NC, where they raised their family. Following her retirement, Faye and Rick embraced the beach lifestyle and moved to Oak Island, NC, fulfilling a dream to live closer to the ocean.
Faye was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a caring grandmother to four beloved granddaughters: Wynn Jewell Huneycutt, Blythe Paige Huneycutt, Mae Florence Huneycutt, and Gracie Rector. Her family was always a priority in her life, and she loved spending time with them, creating lasting memories and bonds, particularly with her granddaughters. Faye also enjoyed gardening and the simple joys that life at the beach provided.
Faye is survived by her loving husband, Rick Huneycutt; son Chris Huneycutt and his wife Katie; daughter Leslie Faye Rector and her husband Kent Rector; sister Carol Adkins and her husband Thomas; brother and sister-in-law Doug and Janice Huneycutt; and her nephews, Timothy Adkins and Greg Huneycutt and niece Jennifer Styron.
