Obituary of Felipe Alejo Velazquez
Felipe Velazquez was born on August 14, 1955, and passed away on March 16, 2025, at the age of 69 in Hollister, CA. The Rosary Service will be held at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Felipe Velazquez was born in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, to Manuel and Maria Velazquez. As a young boy, he migrated with his family to Rancho Cucamonga. Growing up in Live Oak, he worked in the fields, which left a lasting impression on him and shaped his work ethic, determination, and perseverance. Determined to pursue a brighter future, Felipe attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs/Public Administration. His commitment and determination in his studies paved the way for a long and impactful career in public service.
In 1977, Felipe married the love of his life, Laura Muñoz-Velazquez, whom he affectionately called "My Honey Bun." Together, they built a beautiful life over 47 incredible years. Felipe was a devoted husband to Laura and a dedicated father to their four boys: Adrian, Ricardo, Alejo, and Nilo. He instilled the values of hard work, discipline, and courage, always leading by example. The life lessons he imparted to his boys of perseverance, integrity, and kindness will continue to guide them, shaping their futures as they carry forward his legacy.
Felipe dedicated 28 years of service to the County of Monterey, where he made a lasting impact as the County Budget Manager. Despite his demanding career, he always found time for the things that brought him joy: family vacations, tending to his garden, golfing, and deer hunting.
One of Felipe's greatest joys was spending time with his family. He cherished family vacations and created lasting memories with those he loved most. Whether it was a simple getaway or a big adventure, he found happiness in every moment spent together.
Felipe was a calm, steady, and supportive presence in the lives of those around him. He is now reunited with his father, Manuel; his mother, Maria; his siblings Rosario, Guillermina, and Nilo; his mother-in-law, Jenny; his brothers-in-law, Frankie, Manuel, Amador, and Victor; and his sister-in-law, Cristina. Though his family grieves his physical absence, they find comfort in knowing that his love will forever guide them.
May Felipe rest in peace. He will always be loved, cherished, and deeply missed.
Memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund (P.O. Box 247, Tres Pinos, CA 95075) or the American Heart Association.
