It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Felix Omos Sanguino, who departed this life on May 7th, 2025 at his home in
Bluffdale, Utah. Rest in Peace Papacito.
Born on June 23rd 1948, in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He was the 2nd child of seven, born to Maximo Olmos Villarroel and Mercedes Sanguino Montero. Felix Olmos Sanguino was charming, witty, generous, loving, intelligent, admired and praised for his contributions to the Airforce. He suffered inwardly at the loss of his father at the age of 17 which caused him such sorrow, it bled into his life and surroundings. He did his very best to be a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was in a lot of pain in his final months but rarely voiced how much pain he was in. His passing was unexpected, losing him to prostate cancer.
Felix graduated from High School in Bolivia at the Centro Boliviano Americano in November, 1965. He also graduated a second time when he was selected to go to Saratoga Springs, New York between 1966-1967 where he repeated his senior year as an exchange student. He took English classes through the US Consulate and graduated at Ricks College in Idaho with an Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. After becoming a naturalized citizen, he worked for L3 Com Defense for 10-20 years as an Electronic Communication's Engineer. This position allowed him to travel with his family to many countries such as Honduras, Panama, South Korea and France to name a few. He was close to obtaining his Bachelor's degree when living with his family in Florida but was transferred to South Korea before graduating. He received certificates of recognition and appreciation for his valued contribution to the U-2 Reconnaissance missions. The Department of the Air Force presented him with a 48th Intelligence Squadron Coin on April 22, 1999 which earned him a permanent spot in history as a valuable member of the 48th IS Team. He was a professional soccer player for the Bolivian Santa Cruz Soccer Team and played in the Youth League at Rick's College. He traveled to Santa Cruz, Bolivia in 2008 to be with his mother Mercedes for the time he had left with her. He remained there for many years spending time with family and friends with the intention to return to the US but the pandemic prevented him from traveling. In January 2025, he traveled to Miami, Florida where his daughter Tri and son Shua flew down from SLC, Utah to bring him home.
Felix Olmos is survived by his ex-spouse Gertrude Denise Deitz. Together, they had seven children Maximo Kedrin Olmos, Tri Olmos Schnabel, Shua Felix Olmos, Natalia Rappleye, Mathew Landon Olmos, Trudy Olmos, Roque Hernan Olmos and Rosario Olmos Gutierrez, daughter to Felix Olmos and sister to all. Felix loved Jake "Kobo" Schnabel as a son and loved his son in laws, even if the time spent was short. He is survived by his siblings Hernan, Roque, Maximo, Martha and Paola.
He was preceded in death by his father Maximo, mother Mercedes and sister Maria E. Olmos and other loved ones.
Felix "Nene" Olmos Sanguino will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
