Well, folks, it looks like Felix Ordoñez has hung up his tennis shoes, put on his hunting boots and is now living his best life with his main squeeze Patsy in the great hunting lodge in the sky. He passed on October 7, 2024, and you're invited to send him off in style!
Felix was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, on August 18, 1955, to Anna Amelia Ordoñez. He had three siblings whom he shared his loving mother with. Carmel T. May, Blanca Nieve and Leo Gallegos.
Felix attended West Las Vegas High School, was an Army veteran, and a retiree of The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute. After retiring and hanging up his scrubs, he donned a security guard badge at United World College.
Felix was passionate about many things: family, friends, cooking, gardening, and, of course, hunting. Whether it was arrowhead hunting or scouting for wild game, he was always on the lookout for his next big adventure. He even crafted unique hand-tied fishing lures that earned him a feature in the Las Vegas Gazette-proof that he could reel in more than just fish! But his greatest love was Patsy Montoya, who always kept him on his toes.
Felix is survived by his sister Carmel T. May, brother Leo Gallegos, nieces Christina Romero, Roberta May and Anna May, nephew Eddie May and other nieces and nephews who he cherished deeply.
Felix is also survived by his son Tony Montoya, his daughter-in-law Marian, grandchildren Dylan Gage and wife Bri, Natasha and partner Asher, his Zakk-O and great-grandchildren Dylan Rey, Ayla Jo, Kinsley Delilah Moon and Kellin Sorin Gage who he lovingly called his Meatball.
A special thank you to all friends, family, and caregivers who supported Felix during his illness, especially long-time friend Joseph Cordova who helped Felix with anything he needed and will continue to care for Felix's beloved fur babies.
On October 16, 2024 at 6:00 pm, Our Lady of Sorrows Church will host a rosary recitation. I hear Felix will be calling in the big ones from above while we're down here praying for a little rain to keep the deer moving - keep the deer calls to a minimum and be very very quiet, Felix might be up there hunting trophy bucks.
Then, on October 17, it's the big hunt: a funeral mass at 9:00 am. Remember to arrive on time, if Felix said 9 am he probably meant 8 am-don't make us call in the tracking dogs! They'll be carrying Felix to his final resting spot at Mount Calvary Cemetery, where he can finally take a nap without hearing the "you missed!" from the sidelines.
Felix's Hunting Crew-Joey Martinez, Tony Montoya, Zakk Montoya, Ted Esquibel, Pablo Montoya, and Joe Vigil-will be hauling Felix to his final resting spot at the Mount Calvary Hunting Grounds. There, he can finally take a nap without the dreaded "You missed!" echoing in his ears.
A special shout-out to our honorary pallbearers: Joseph Cordova, Gina Montoya, Benny Gurule, and the rest of the crew. You know Felix is up there chuckling, hoping you'll share a few of his favorite hunting stories instead of crying!
So put on your best camo and let's send Felix off like the true hunter he was-with plenty of laughs and a few tall tales!

I just thought about Felix and surprised to find this site.
I met Felix during the Korean War when we both took radio repair classes at Fort Benning, Ga. After we graduated, I drove him back to Phoenix on my way home to L.A. along with 2 others: Earl Loving, San Bernardino, Ca. and another from San Jose', Calif. I will be 97 this Sept. and a care taker for my wife of almost 72 years. Now I wish I had thought of this earlier.

My condolences to my buddy Felix´s family. Felix n I joined the army together. We had each other´s backs throughout basic training and AIT. We continued being good friends while I lived in Las Vegas. I used to take communion to his mom Annie n Felix would always cook breakfast for me. I will miss you my friend. If you still don´t have someone to pray his rosary, it would be an honor if I could do it. I may be reached at (505)617-6297. Ernest Armijo
