MAMOU - Felton Paul Deculus, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Monday, April 1, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 12:00 PM with Father Massie as celebrant. Burial will follow at Pointe Claire Cemetery.
Felton was born on August 8, 1944, in Mamou, Louisiana to the late, Lecio and Meliza Gobert Deculus. He was a hardworking man who had a diverse career, working as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and farming throughout his life. Those who knew Felton knew him for his practical jokes.
In his free time, Felton found joy in simple pleasures like fishing, hunting, and spending time outdoors. His hobbies reflected his down-to-earth nature and his appreciation for the beauty of nature that surrounded him.
Felton Paul Deculus, Sr. is survived by his loving family including, two daughters, Monica Deculus and Carolyn Huerta-Castro; two sons, Paul Deculus, and Bernard Deculus; sister, Helena Ledee; ten grandchildren, Brent Gradney, Ana Gradney, Larry Bellow, Courtney Bellow, Lainie Bellow-Cunningham, Farrah Deculus, Noah Deculus, Logan Deculus, Bree Deculus, McKenzie Matte and Ava Deculus; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melton Deculus and Joseph Deculus and sister, Eltra Deculus Allen.
At the family’s request, a visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, April 4, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM until dismissal for Mass.
Serving as Pallbearers are Malcolm Allen, Jerome Timmy LaChapelle, Clay Alfred, Raphael Venable, Bernard Deculus and Corey Cunningham.
