Gary Joseph Guillory, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, at the age of 73. Born on Saturday, December 20, 1952, in Mamou, Gary lived a life marked by hard work, determination and a strong will. A Celebration of Life, officiated by his son in law, Nick Peppo, will take place on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou.
Gary’s career path led him to work in the oilfield and also as a plant mechanic, where his knowledge and skills served him well. He was well-known for his ability to understand and tackle a wide array of challenges, often reflecting his belief that he “knew a little about a whole lot of things.”
Outside of work and service, Gary enjoyed fishing for bass, hunting, and cooking. Gary took great pleasure in watching his favorite football teams, the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers.
Gary’s vibrant and determined personality often led to spirited conversations and debates. Yet, this strong presence was balanced by a warm heart and a genuine care for those around him. His family and friends will greatly miss him and will fondly remember the memories they shared.
Gary is survived by two sons, Jason Guillory (Susi) and Donovan Guillory (Amanda Covington); daughter, Rachel Peppo (Nick); and eight grandchildren, Garett (Summer), Emma (Alvaro), Cora, Reagan, Wyatt, Corby, Dax, and Eli. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his four great grandchildren, Myla, Grayson, Amelia, and Jaxson; three sisters, Patricia Orlando (Gus), Carol Hofsommer (Doug), Sharon Guillory, and Johnna Rena Guillory (Cody Viga): and brother, John Michael Guillory.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Saucier Guillory.
A visitation to honor Gary will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou.
