Fern M. Jansa
December 6, 1934 - May 1, 2025
Fern M. Jansa, 90 of Weston, Neb. passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, Neb. She was born December 6, 1934 in Wahoo, Neb. to Gordon and Sylvia (Siemsen) Nelson. She attended Wahoo High School. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Jansa on December 9, 1950 at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. She started her career as a waitress at Whiteway Café in Weston and retired from Stanley Home Products as a manager. Her Stanley career was, in a sense, the embodiment of Fern. She started with nothing but her ambition and infectious laugh, which stayed with her all the way to retirement and beyond. Her journey as a multiple-divisional leader with Stanley enabled her to make many connections throughout the entire country. She kept all her 'Stanley family' close with cards and phone calls and did so with love and pride until she could no longer hold the pen.
Fern was a very social individual who loved to visit and host parties for family and friends alike, especially on Christmas Eve for the whole family. She remained a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother throughout her life. She was a longtime active member of the Weston Fire & Rescue Auxiliary and, as a survivor, was an avid supporter of the American Cancer Society.
Fern is survived by her son, Randy (fiancé Eva Egr) Jansa; daughter, Lori (Jon E.) Williams; grandchildren, Rhianon (Tamer) Mahrous, Sarah (fiancé Ryan Nissen) Jansa, Meloni (Raymond) Lines, Jesse (Lindsey) Williams, Jeremy (Kat) Williams, Jon C. Williams; great-grandchildren, Sydney Nicholls, Zach, Sylvia and Nate Mahrous, Hadley and Jameson Williams, Bram Williams, Harlee Sabatka, Weslee Morgan; special nieces and nephews, Rhonda Andresen, Billy Semrad, Bradley Semrad and families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Sylvia Nelson; husband, Donald L. Jansa; sisters, Linda (Bill, Sr.) Semrad, Joyce (Donald) Kucera.
