Fern Williams, born on September 4, 1938, in Rowan County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 85. Fern was a private and proud lady, known for her impeccable sense of style and her love for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, and relishing the beautiful life she led by the Elizabeth River. A member of Hickory Methodist Church, Fern's faith was an important part of her life.
She retired from the Christian Broadcast Network (CBN) as a financial clerk, where she worked diligently for many years. Her colleagues will remember her for her dedication and meticulous nature.
Fern is preceded in death by her parents, Vada (Jones) Dehart and Levi Scotland Dehart; her loving husband, Richard W. Williams, Sr.; her infant daughter, Deborah Lynn; and seven siblings.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard W. Williams, Jr. (Sharon) and Ronald L. Williams; her grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Matthew Williams (Abeer Aman), and Katie Williams (John Richter); and her great-grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Jonah Richter, Jebel Williams, and Ben Richter. She is also survived by her brother Ray Dehart of Rowan County, KY. Fern's family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Services will be held at Oman Funeral Home, with visitation on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 1:00 pm, followed by burial at Rosewood Memorial Park.
Fern Williams will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her grace, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
