Fernando Ruiz Sr Age 64, Longtime resident of Garfield Ridge, Passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025. Born and raised in Salvatierra, Guanajuato Mexico. Fernando later moved with his family to the south side of Chicago. Beloved husband of Lara Ruiz; Loving father of Fernando Jr, Ricardo, and Ricky. Beloved Grandfather of Moses, Joshua, David and Brandon. Fernando was also beloved by numerous family members throughout the Chicagoland area and Mexico.
Fernando was preceded in death by his parents Vicente and Graciela Ruiz (Lopez)
Fernando was a hard working and dedicated family man. At a young age Fernando found a great talent becoming a self taught guitarist. Which became a great passion of his throughout many years creating several memories of him playing his guitar for friends and family. His love for music was undeniable. He also loved to cook, whether it was behind the stove or over the grill he knew how to make everything just right with his gift of taste and flavors. But more importantly he absolutely loved being a father and grandfather. He adored his wife, the love of his life.
Fernando was also the founder and lead pastor for Sword of Fire Ministries established in 2008. His passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ was by far his greatest contribution to our lifetime. Fernando was known as a loving outgoing Pastor that was led by the Holy Spirit where he ministered to all from local communities to outreaches in other countries. He will be deeply missed but we all know that he is rejoicing in the presence of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
John 1: 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. The family will receive friends at Central Chapel, 6158 S. Central Ave. Chicago, IL 60638 on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 3-8 p.m with a Funeral Service beginning at 7 p.m. Cremation following in accordance with Fernando's wishes.
