Filippo Mirisola Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Filippo (Philip) Mirisola who departed from this world on Monday, January 8, 2024 at the age of 82. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be engraved on the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Born July 4, 1941 in Riesi, Italy to Maria and Luigi Mirisola, Filippo was the most loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He is survived by his eternal love, Giosina; his children, Marie and her husband Mike, Bernadette and her husband Michael, Louise and her husband Joe, and Luigi and his wife Nicole; his grandchildren, Erica, James and his wife Athena, Philip and his wife Carolyn, Ariana, Joseph, Michael, Alexa, Philip, and Nicholas; his great grandchildren, Declan, Rylan, and Roman; his sister Gina and her husband Salvatore; and predeceased by his brother Franco.
Simply put, to know him was to love him. An endless supply of class, integrity, and character, he served as an ideal for us all to strive towards. As so many have expressed since his passing, he was "the best of the best."
Embodying his "family first" mantra from an early age, Filippo worked to help support his family as they transitioned to life as immigrants in America. As he entered young adulthood, he pursued his first love: calcio (soccer). Known for his intellect, athleticism, and "slap shot" Filippo quickly ascended the ranks of professional soccer in the Northeast United States. Later, he established himself as a leader and coach capable of bridging cultural gaps that resulted in some of his deepest, longest-lasting, and most meaningful friendships.
Filippo's life forever changed when he met the true love of his life: Giosina (LoGrasso) Mirisola, the woman who stood by his side for over 60 years. A fairy-tale romance, Filippo and Giosina's love served as a model for those lucky enough to witness it and ultimately resulted in his driving force in life- his family.
A man of unparalleled wisdom, Filippo imparted valuable lessons to all who sought his guidance. He shared his knowledge with a gentleness that eased the burdens of others, without making them feel judged or insecure. Whether through a comforting word, a listening ear, or a well-timed joke, he had a unique ability to uplift the spirits of those around him. His generosity knew no bounds, and his compassion touched the lives of many.
Filippo was an avid storyteller, captivating those he spoke to with tales of his youth, garden, wine-making, and the enduring love he felt for his family. His stories and speeches not only entertained, but will also serve as a timeless legacy, preserving the essence of a life well-lived and well-loved.
In addition to his warm and loving nature, Filippo was a pillar of strength and resilience. Even in the face of life's challenges, he faced adversity with grace and an often-silent courage that inspired those around him to do the same. His legacy of fortitude will continue to resonate with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless lives he inspired during his time on Earth.
As we mourn the loss of this truly exceptional man, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he led and remember the profound impact he had on all of us. Filippo will be dearly missed, but his spirit lives on in the cherished memories and lessons we hold close to our hearts.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Filippo Mirisola's life will be held on Tuesday, January 16th at Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home 331 Main Street, Everett, MA at 8:45am, a funeral mass will immediately follow in the Immaculate Conception Church Malden at 10:00am. Interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery Malden. Visitation hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm, relatives and friends are kindled invited, complimentary valet parking.
May Filippo rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that he so generously gave throughout his remarkable life.

He was such a Gentleman. Never said a bad word about anyone or anything. At work he always was there to help no matter what the job was. Rest in peace my friend.
