Filomena M. "Phyllis" Horton

Phyllis DeNicolais Horton, a lifelong resident of Beacon, New York, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born in Beacon, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary DeNicolais. On May 15, 1960, she married Robert J. Horton at St. Joachim Church. They shared 49 years of marriage devoted to faith, family, and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Pamela Chiera of Newport, RI, and Amy Johnson of Pawling, NY; her son-in-law, Raymond Johnson; her sister, Josephine Pucino of Fishkill, NY; her grandsons, Austin Johnson and Alexander Chiera (with his wife Shelby); and her great-grandson, Oliver Chiera.
A devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, Phyllis's faith was central to her life. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and the hospitality of her home, especially her home-cooked meals-meatballs, banana bread, cream puffs, and Easter pies. Her strength and quiet generosity touched everyone she met.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert, and her eleven predeceased siblings. Phyllis will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation: Friday, October 24, from 4–7 PM at Riverview Funeral Home, Beacon.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, October 25, at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, followed by interment at St. Joachim's Cemetery.
