Finley L. "Lyde" McCaskill

Finley L. "Lyde" McCaskill, 91, husband of the late Bertha May Drose McCaskill, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Wildwood Downs in Columbia.
Born July 4, 1933, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Finley Cook McCaskill and the late Lida Brown McCaskill. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was the owner and operator of The Rustic Market from 1975 until he retired. He was a lifelong fisherman and hunter, and an avid reader.
Survivors include three children, Sherrie McCaskill of Columbia, Stephen McCaskill (LaDonna) of Sumter, and Gregory McCaskill of Chapin; daughter-in-law, Tina McCaskill of Chapin; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and William DuVal, and Susie and Bill Maye; and a brother, James McCaskill.
A graveside service will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday in the Bethel Methodist Oswego Church cemetery with the Rev. Tim Whited officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethel Methodist Oswego Church Building Fund, 5575 Lodebar Rd., Sumter, SC 29153.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
