Fleeter Armstead

Fleeter (Allen) Armstead, age 85, passed this life peacefully in her home Friday, October 25, 2024. Born Fleeter Allen on October 7, 1939 in Bonny Blue, Lee County, VA, Fleeter was the fourth child out of seven of Wil and Christina Allen (both preceded her in death). She attended Liberty High School and Christ Temple Church in Williamson, WV. At the age of 12, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Fleeter entered the workforce as a housekeeper for a prominent family. Fleeter united in holy matrimony with Major Armstead, Jr. (preceded in death) on May 1, 1965, in Columbus, OH. To this union were added four precious souls, Brenda Kay Allen, Christine (Allen) Gresham, Felicia Ann (Armstead) Gaston and Michelle Armstead. Fleeter was a member of Bible Way Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Columbus, OH. For several years, she worked for Doctors Hospital North and Doctors Hospital West, as a Cook where she retired. Fleeter was a very lovely and caring woman who was devoted to her family. She loved all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren with unwavering love. She also loved being with friends and enjoying their company. Some of her hobbies were sewing and cooking. Fleeter is preceded in death by husband, Major Armstead, Jr.; daughter, Felicia Ann (Armstead) Gaston; father, Will Allen; mother, Christina (Thompson) Allen; her aunts, Wilie Mae Carter, Lorene Gillespie, Elvira Rhinehart, Mattie Kyle, Rosie Lee Griffin, Jewel Downing. Helen Cobb and Jessie Mae Nichols; Uncles, Prince Albert Thompson and Albert Thompson, her siblings: Clifford Allen, Ethel (Allen) Howard, Mable Allen, Elmer Allen, Archie Allen, Dorothy Allen; son-in-law, Irvin Russell Gresham, Jr. and nephew, Gary Jermaine Allen. Fleeter is survived by three daughters, Brenda Kay Allen, Christine Gresham and Michelle Armstead; sister-in-law, Valla (Netter) Allen: brother-in-law, Cecil Howard. She leaves to cherish her memories of 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
