Fletcher Watson Obituary

Fletcher was born on January 8, 1928 and passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. He served in the United States Navy, attended Yale University and Randolph Macon College, and lived most of his life in Chatham, serving as an attorney, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Judge, and for 30 years as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration. He was a lifelong member and former Treasurer of Watson Memorial Methodist Church, and a member of Pittsylvania Masonic Lodge No. 24. He is survived by four sons, Fletcher B. (Marian) Watson V of Nashville, TN, James P. (Diana) Watson of Washington, DC, Page R. Watson of Danville, and Stephen M. (Julie) Watson of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Fletcher, Paige, Miranda, Haley, Katie, and Will; a brother, Page (Nona) Watson of Estes Park, CO; and Mary Jo Shea, mother of his four boys and his companion to the end. Funeral services will be conducted at Watson Memorial United Methodist Church on Friday September 20, 2019, at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow at Chatham Burial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Watson Memorial Methodist Church.
