Flor Macuado passed away peacefully on Friday July 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, New York. Flor was born Flor De Maria Torres Sanchez on May 28th, 1949, in Lima, Peru to Felix and Rosaura (Tantalean) Torres. Flor moved from Peru to New York, and then settled in New Jersey where she married Hipolito Macuado in 1987, in Union City, NJ. For many years Flor was a caregiver, showcasing her strength in taking care of those around her. She found her joy in ensuring that others were cared for and well.
Flor leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Hipolito Macuado of North Arlington, New Jersey; is predeceased by her son Jorge Cerdan (August 18, 2011), his wife Sara Cerdan of Union City, New Jersey; Felipe Cerdan of North Arlington, New Jersey; Flor Maribel Cerdan and her partner Galileo Romero of Union City, New Jersey; Jean Karlos Cerdan and his wife Marisol Cerdan of Queens, New York; Alex Bradley Macuado of Springfield, Massachusetts; and Zolia Macuado and her partner Juan Acaron of North Arlington, New Jersey.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren Harold Cerdan, Heliany Cerdan, Natalie Cerdan, Mia Cerdan, Bruce Cerdan, Donovan Cerdan, Plutarco Romero, Randdhy Cerdan, Amy Cerdan, Matthew Cerdan, Emily Cerdan, Alex Bradley Macuado Jr.; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Flor was such a special woman to all those that encountered her; she was giving, friendly, loving, and most of all nurturing. She loved her family more than anything, dedicating time to her children and grandchildren whenever possible. She will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be Thursday July 27, 2023 from 4pm – 8pm at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave, Rutherford, New Jersey, 07070. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
