Flora Mae Atkinson

Flora Mae Atkinson, 92, Marion, formerly of Alexandria, passed away July 31, 2023, at 10:05 P.M. surrounded by friends and family. Flora was born in 1931 to Thomas and Gladys Hollis in Missouri and later moved to Indiana.
She met her husband, Melvin, in Anderson and later had two children, David (Susan) Atkinson and Sharon (John) Miller.
Flora worked at Delco Remy until she retired in 1980. She loved to garden and was an avid bowler. Flora always had a smile on her face and made others smile as well. In later life, she developed Alzheimer's Disease, battling it for several years. In her final years and days she was aided and comforted by her special caregiver, Chad (Chris) Duguid.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, her son David, her grandson, Shane Miller, along with two brothers and a sister.
Flora is survived by her daughter, Sharon, her sister, Mary Clendenin, grandsons, Ian (Tim) Atkinson, and Jason Miller, and great-grandson, Johnny Miller.
Flora will be mourned during a private service on Friday, August 4, 2023. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
