Flora Lee Blake was born September 9, 1930, in
Salisbury, Missouri, to Robert M. and Pearline E. Jacobs. She was the oldest of four children; Flora Lee, Robert "Bob", Jack, and Mildred L. She loved her family dearly and was somewhat the mother hen to them all. She passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in
Omaha, Nebraska, due to heart failure.
Flora accepted Christ early in life and was a member of Salisbury's Second Baptist Church. She attended and graduated from Dalton Vocational High School. Flora had many lifelong great friends from her years at Dalton Vocational. She married James F. Blake and from this union three daughters were born: Lenora, Pamela and Laura.
James and Flora relocated to
Omaha, Nebraska, in 1958 where the family became members of the Salem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev Dr. J. C. Wade, Sr. Flora was a strong, loving, and committed mother to the girls and every other child in the neighborhood. Sunday School, BTU, Christmas and/or Easter programs were not optional. She instilled love, confidence, prayer, and faith in all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Loving and walking with GOD was the way of life in her household. Her family was everything to her and she loved her family deeply. She prayed with passion, power, and understanding. She was a woman of great courage who faced every problem with confidence. She enjoyed music, talking on the phone, quilting, and baking.
Flora always found joy in life and appreciated each day as a gift. She shared stories and laughter. She shared her wisdom. She gave lots of love. The world will be a different place without her, but the memories she created will last forever through her family and friends.
