Flora Cox

Kitty Cox of Great Falls, Virginia died surrounded by her loving family on August 10, 2025. She was the devoted mother of Kathy Ann Cox Allen (Gene), Karen Lynn Propheter (John), and Carolyn Mae Brooks (Eric). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Earl Cox in 2020. She had six grandchildren: Katherine (Stephen Dombkoski), Rebecca, Victoria, Alexandra, Christina, and Brandon. Kitty was born in Ironton, OH on August 28, 1937, and grew up in Cincinnati, OH. While raising her family, she attended the University of Connecticut and received a BA degree in English in 1977. As a professional writer, she wrote 600 published articles. Through her volunteer work, Kitty received a volunteer activist award for the DC metro area, Woman of the Year from the Business and Professional Women's Club of Great Falls, VA, and honored with a Great Falls Women's Club and Scholarship Fund Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a 45-year member of McLean Baptist church where she taught English to International students. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.
