Florence R. Bechtel, 77, of Gibsonburg, passed away April 24, 2023, at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was born on May 1, 1945, in Fremont, Ohio to George and Viola (Reinbolt) Unger. Florence was a 1963 graduate of Gibsonburg High School.
On May 30, 1964, she married Leslie Kaye Bechtel, and shared 56 years together in marriage until his passing on July 18, 2020.
Florence was a secretary for Carmeuse Lime & Stone for many years until her retirement in 2001. She was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Gibsonburg where she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society and organized funeral dinners for the church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Scott (Janet) Bechtel of Findlay, and Stacy (Philip) Alldredge of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Stephanie, Sarah, and Sydney Alldredge; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Sochor of Helena, Martha Unger of Tomball, TX; nieces, Kathy Tellez, Connie Fuller, Kendra Kotzur, Karen Hardin, and Carla Rypien.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Unger.
Florence's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Wood Haven Health Care for their wonderful care, compassion and support.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023, from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 1, 2023, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 317 E. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Fr. Ted Miller will officiate. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of services will be available by following the link provided on Florence's obituary page.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church or to Wood Haven Health Care, with Memo: Activities Fund, 1965 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, OH, 43402.
