Lois Kirsch Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory - Lyman on Feb. 11, 2026.
Lyman, SC – Lois Katherine Kirsch, 86, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026. She was the daughter of the late George and Annabelle Moore McGill and the loving wife of the late William Otto Kirsch.

Lois began her working life as a telephone operator, where she connected others with professionalism and kindness. After marrying, she embraced her role as a loving homemaker and devoted mother, raising her five children with patience, warmth, and unwavering support. She was a woman of many interests and found joy in life's simple pleasures. She often enjoyed afternoons spent playing card games with friends and family, quiet moments working on intricate cross-stitch patterns, and leisurely reading. A talented artist, Lois painted the original Golden Bear mascot on the basketball floor in Gibsonburg, Ohio. She also created the first girls' softball team in Gibsonburg, finding a place for a field, helping make it, and faithfully maintaining it so the girls would have something of their own. She was a loyal fan of Ohio State football and never missed a chance to cheer on her team. Puzzles challenged her mind, and summers at the family's lake cottage were treasured traditions, full of laughter, sunshine, and the peaceful rhythm of the lake.

She is survived by her children, Mark Kirsch (Tonya), Debra Puhl (Richard), Thomas Kirsch (Lynette), Judy Beck (Kyle), and Jill Kirsch (Rick); 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren; and her sister, Patricia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary and Nan; brothers, George and John; and her granddaughter, Erin Michelle Puhl.
