On behalf of the Ahrendtsen family, I would like to offer our condolences on the passing of your Aunt Florence.
Our friendship with the Crotty/Batson family began in August 1951 when we moved to 45 Pearl Street across from your beautiful double home.
Kathryn and our mother were busy taking care of babies but found time to visit. Our mother told the story of a flag that hung outside your house and whoever was walking Cathie and John in the stroller had to keep walking until the flag was out. Our mother thought that was so clever.
Florence shared the story of offering to sleep over at our house because our father was going to be away over night and our mother had never been alone in the house.
Florence had a bird's eye view of whatever went on and told about Tom climbing on top of a car in our driveway.
We eventually outgrew our Pearl Street home and moved on to 46 Hartford Terrace but the friendship with the Crotty/Batson families continues with our brother Tom and Charles.
Florence's presense at our mother's funeral in June 2012 and so soon after at our brother Bob's funeral in Sept.2012 meant a lot to all of us.
After our mother passed away I enjoyed occassional phone calls with Florence. It was wonderful to reminisce about New Hartford. I was fortunate to speak with her soon after she celebrated her 100th birthday.
Over the years Florence wrote gracious notes to our mother to tell her how lovely our weddings had been or to thank her for kindness our family had shown her. My mother kept these notes and now we save them to remind us of the friendship that started way back in August 1951.

Sincerely,
The Ahrendtsen family
Bill, Tom, Mary Ellen, Anne, Jean, Julie

On behalf of the Ahrendtsen family, I would like to offer our condolences on the passing of your Aunt Florence.
Our friendship with the Crotty/ Batson family began in August 1951 when we moved to 45 Pearl Street, right across from the big double house that you called home.
Kathryyn or Kay as our mother always called her, were busy mothers but found time to visit. Our mother told the story of a flag that flew outside your house and whoever was walking Cathie and John in the stroller had to keep going until the flag signaled it was time to come home. Our mother thought that was very clever.
Your Aunt Florence shared the story of offering to sleep at our house because our father was going to be away overnight and our mother had never been alone in the house. Florence had a bird's eye view of whatever went on and told of watching Tom climbing on the top of a car in our driveway.
We eventually outgrew our Pearl Street home and moved on to 46 Hartford Terrace where the friendship with the Crotty/Batson families continues today with our brother Tom and Charles.
Florence's presence at our mother's funeral in June of 2021 and soon after at our brother Bob's funeral in Sept. of 2021 meant a lot to all of us.
After our mother passed away, I enjoyed staying connected with Florence with occassional phone calls where we would reminisce about New Hartford.
Over the years Florence wrote our mother notes to tell her how lovely our weddings had been or to thank her for kindness our family had shown her.
Our mother kept them all and we now keep them to remind us of the friendship that started way back in August 1951.

Sincerely,
The Ahrendtsen family
