Florence Jennie (Greenlaw) Clinton, 87 of Rockport, formerly of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester following a long, courageous struggle with lung disease. She leaves her loving and devoted husband Robert S. Clinton Sr., with whom she enjoyed 66 happy years of marriage. She was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on November 19, 1924, daughter of the late Raymond H. and Marion I. (MacDonald) Greenlaw. A member of the First Baptist Church in Rockport, Florence served as Historian for many years. She had been a receptionist at Rocky Shores Inn in Rockport. Florence loved spending time in her flower garden and time shared with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her children, Linda D. (Clinton) Horn and husband Craig Horn of Farmington, New Mexico; Robert S. Clinton Jr. and Christi Odiaga of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Laurie L. (Clinton) Johnson and John Howe of Bremen, Maine. She was the proud grandmother of Daniel Gareau, Cory Clinton and Christopher "Kit" Horn. Florence is also survived by her beloved sister, Carol Spalding of Kennebunk, Maine. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Raymond H. Greenlaw Jr. and Malcolm Greenlaw. Her Memorial Service will be held in the First Baptist Church, 2 High St., Rockport, on Friday, October 12, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will be no visiting hours and the committal will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Florence's name to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church, 2 High Street, Rockport, MA 01966. Arrangements are by the Burgess and Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main Street, Rockport. Online condolences may be given at www.burgessandmackeyfuneralhome.com.
