Wade Funeral Home & Crematory - ArlingtonFlorence Fox passed peacefully on August 27th at her home in Fort Worth, at the age of 91. She was born on February 26, 1934, in Jones Prairie, Texas. Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, Jamie Fox, as well as her brother and sister. She is survived by her three daughters: Cynthia McCarty and husband Brad; Sheryl Yates Gallo and husband John; and Marilyn Miller and husband Scot. She is also lovingly remembered by three grandchildren--Dustin Yates, Allison McCarty, and Rachel McCarty—and six great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Bettye Mullins, and husband S.L. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence and Jamie met in San Angelo, Texas. After a whirlwind romance, they married in September 1951. Together they raised three daughters and built a rich life, living primarily in San Angelo and Arlington, Texas.
Faith and service to others were cornerstones of their lives. Florence and Jamie faithfully served in the Churches of Christ, including the Johnson Street, North Davis, and Pleasant Ridge congregations.
Florence worked for American Airlines for many years, which provided her and Jamie the joy of traveling together, including cherished trips to England and Hawaii. The Foxes enjoyed close circles of friends in both San Angelo and Arlington. Florence was known as a graceful hostess, a frequent bridge player, and a devoted “Mommom” to her grandchildren.
The family thanks AlevCare Hospice for their compassionate care of Florence during her final journey. Services are pending at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington.
