Florence Mae Marxen

Marxen, Florence Mae 'Flossie' of Bloomington, MN, passed away on March 1, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born to Samuel and Effie Altland in York County, Pennsylvania, and was the sixth of eight children. Flossie is survived by her husband Carsten Marxen, daughter Sharon (Ted) Hinck, son Steven Reske, stepchildren John Marxen and Debbie Drake, sister Louise Norris, and seven grandchildren and three beloved great grandchildren. Flossie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a lifelong caretaker, both in her career as a nurse and as a longtime volunteer at her church where she was a compassionate witness and support to countless people during the most difficult moments of their lives. Flossie was a woman in motion with an easy laugh who loved long bike rides, a spotless house, watching birds, listening to her favorite hymns, doing the crossword, and (allegedly) cheating at scrabble. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, MN. A livestream will be available. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Michael's. Visitation will be 90 minutes before the service.
