Florence (McCahill) Urbany Moffit, 79, of Washington, PA, formerly of New York, passed away on February 14, 2026, at UPMC Washington Hospital.
She was born on May 27, 1946, in Flushing, New York, in Queens County; she was the daughter of the late William McCahill, Sr. and Florence (Reithel) McCahill.
Florence attended and graduated from high school in New York and proceeded to obtain a Bachelor of Education at the University of Dayton in Ohio.
In Washington, she taught within the Trinity Area School District for 19 years and was recognized as a “very involved teacher”; she was instrumental in forming the TWIST softball program, coordinating the Trinity Marching Band, and participating in the PTA for North Franklin Township.
Florence was also a strong advocate for handicap rights, working with TRIPIL.
She was a strong, brave woman who successfully battled complications of a stroke for many years.
Florence is survived by daughters Lisa (Bruce Baker) Kelley, Christine (Christopher) Wacker, and Janice (Eric) Farkas; brother William (Ellen)McCahill, Jr.; beloved grandchildren Samantha (Danny) Mansfield and William Kelley; great grandchildren Kodi Mann, Kylee Mann, and Robbie Mansfield; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by son-in-law Robert Kelley.
Florence was Catholic by faith.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA., where a Catholic Blessing Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery.
