Florence Monico Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vainieri Funeral Home on Mar. 15, 2025.
Florence H. Monico, a cherished matriarch, and beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on March 14, 2025, in Holmdel, New Jersey. Born on November 4, 1927, in North Bergen, New Jersey, Florence's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
Florence's journey began in the heart of North Bergen, where her warmth and conviviality blossomed early on. Her life was a testament to the power of love, as she navigated the world alongside her beloved husband, John Monico, until his passing in 1985. Together they built a family, a sanctuary of support and affection for their children Carol and Richard Gunderud of Hazlet, N.J., Donna and Thomas Macdonald of Iselin, N.J., and son John and Kathie Monico of Ridgefield, N.J. Florence's legacy continued to flourish through the lives of her three adoring grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a reflection of her loving heart and gentle soul. For two decades,
Florence's professional life was intertwined with Sylvette's in West New York, New Jersey. There, she not only dedicated herself to her work but also to the people around her. She was more than an employee; she was a friend, a confidant, and a source of unwavering support to her colleagues and the many people she served.
Florence's interests were simple yet filled with the joy of living. She found great pleasure in the thrill of bingo and the excitement of trips to Atlantic City. These pastimes were not just hobbies but a way for Florence to connect with friends, share stories, and spread her infectious laughter. The words that best describe Florence are loving, kind, and friendly. She was the embodiment of these traits, touching the lives of everyone she met with her genuine care and compassion. Her presence was a comfort, her smile a gift, and her friendship a treasure cherished by all who knew her.Florence's life was a beautiful illustration of what it means to be human - to love, to share, and to be kind.
Her family will remember her as the rock upon which they built their lives, the guiding light that led them through times of darkness, and the gentle hand that soothed their sorrows. To her friends, she was the joy in every gathering, the laughter in every conversation, and the friend who was always there. Her memory will be carried in the hearts of her family, etched into the souls of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.
Florence H. Monico's story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of those she touched. She leaves behind a world brighter for her presence, a family stronger for her guidance, and a community richer for her contributions. Her spirit, as gentle and unwavering as a summer's breeze, will forever be felt in the places she loved and the lives she changed.
As we bid farewell to Florence, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with her, for the lessons she taught us, and for the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but her influence will never wane. Rest in peace, dear Florence. Your memory will forever be a beacon of love and kindness in a world that will miss you dearly.
