It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Florence E. Ross, affectionately known among friends as Flo and Esther, to our family as Essie, and to her cherished grandchildren as Mema. Born on July 20, 1960, in Springfield, MA, where she spent all her 64 beautiful years, Florence left us on October 28, 2024. Though she is no longer with us physically, her supportive, loyal, and dedicated spirit continues to resonate within the hearts of all who knew her.
Florence was a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her love for her family was unparalleled; they were her anchor and her joy. She was an unwavering source of support, always ready to lend an ear or share a comforting word. My mother, my best friend, she was the one I'd turn to vent about life, always listening attentively and providing the wisdom I needed. Florence was also an integral part of raising my two boys. Her love for them was pure and boundless, a testament to her caring nature.
Before she lost her eyesight, Florence found solace in immersing herself in the world of books, taking long drives, and exploring new places through travel. She had an infectious exuberance for life, often seen blasting her favorite music and filling our home with laughter and warmth. She was a dedicated worker, serving as a secretary, accountant, salesperson, and phone operator at Kirby Vacuum Cleaners. She was as loyal to her professional commitments as she was to her personal ones.
Florence was a proud and devout Jehovah's Witness, baptized in 2003. She relished attending her meetings, engaging in service, and being part of her spiritual family. In the words of the scripture she held dear, "Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and do not lean upon your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5). Florence truly embodied this verse, her unwavering faith guiding her through life's trials and tribulations.
Florence is survived by her daughter and best friend, Erica (Dorian) Dobbins; her grandsons, Cam Joiner and Caden Joiner-Dobbins; her nephew, Gregory Jackson; and her step-son, Ronnie Ross. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Annie Joiner.
Florence's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication, supportive nature, and loyal heart. She will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing that her love continues to live on within each of us.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 131 Clifton Avenue, Springfield, MA.
We invite everyone who knew Florence to visit her memorial page, where you can share your favorite memories of her, and upload any photos you may have. In this way, we can all help keep her memory alive and celebrate the remarkable woman she was.
