Flossie Bland

Flossie R. Bland, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Brightwood Center in Follansbee, West Virginia, surrounded by the love of her children.

Born on September 9, 1930, in BeeBee, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Erma Levina Cecil Richmond.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bud" Bland; brother, Thomas Richmond; sister, Vera Louise Smith and by her close friend Errett Allison.

Flossie was a graduate of Magnolia High School in New Martinsville and was a proud homemaker throughout her life. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things, crocheting, quilting, canning, working crossword puzzles, and tending to her garden. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always devoted to her family.

She will be deeply missed by her loving children: Michael T. Bland (Pamela) of Monroe, North Carolina; Jeffrey L. Bland of Chester; and Susan L. Derda (John) of Indian Trail, North Carolina. She is also survived by her brother, William Henry Richmond (Destee); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Flossie's life on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Flossie's warmth, quiet strength, and loving spirit will be cherished always by those who knew and loved her.
