Floy Jeanette Hight of Odessa, Tx was born September 16, 1951, at the Tigua General Hospital in El Paso, Tx. Jeannie passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2026, at the age of 74.
Jeannie moved from El Paso to Odessa in 1958 where she attended Permian High School and started her family. She married Joel Hight on September 27,1984 and was fortunate to be able to stay at home and raise her children. Jeannie was passionate about her family & friends, and she could always light up any room with her contagious laughter and healing hugs. Her love was unconditional. She taught us the importance of kindness, not just through her words, but through her actions. Jeannie, also known as Granny, spent her life dedicated to the things she loved most, her family, friends, babysitting, caring for animals, and embracing the beauty of nature. Even on her final days, she was more concerned about us than herself. That was mom-always putting others first. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in us, and the countless lives she touched. Jeannie worshiped the lord passionately, finding moments throughout her day to express her faith. Her love for dancing was evident as she could “waltz across Texas” embodying the spirit of freedom much like the butterflies she adored. We will miss you but will carry your love with us always.
In keeping with Jeannie’s wishes, no funeral services are planned. Instead, the family requests that any contributions be made in her memory to the Odessa Humane Society, North American Butterfly Association, or the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, supporting causes close to her heart.
Jeannie is survived by her 3 sons & 1 daughter, David & Erin Waters of Arlington, Washington; Jay & Karen Wilson of Bailey, Colorado; Haley & Chris Worsham of New Braunfels, Texas; Coby & Gwen Wilson of Orange Grove, Texas; 2 stepdaughters Shelby & Joe Fifield of Everett, Washington; Stacia & Randy Sellars of Boise, Idaho. 12 grandchildren Davey, James, Joe, Angie, Levi, Emily, Coby, Lauren, Alanna, Sydney, Shayanae, Carson & many great grandchildren. 2 sisters Dottie & Paul Creech of Irving, Texas; Debbie & Phillip Imler of Odessa, Texas & numerous nieces & nephews; and her best friend of 52 years Donna Leonard of Odessa, Tx. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joel Hight, and her parents Charles Grady & Floy Beatrice Waters.
2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.”
