Floyd Barragan, 87 years old, a native of Melville, and resident of Zachary, loving Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Father was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 28, 2024. He entered this world on October 16, 1936, born to Eufemia and Luis Barragan, in Luling, LA. Floyd honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of the Cajun Classic Chevy Club, he enjoyed woodworking, painting, and feeding all his farm animals, he was an avid Saints and LSU fan. After his retirement from the City of Baton Rouge, he worked for Gerry Lane Chevrolet. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything.
Floyd is survived by his grandchildren, Vickii Melius (Cliff) and Sandy Higgins; great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Melius, Abi Downs, and Harmon Downs; daughter, Frankie Wright; loving companion, Lois Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Joyce Barragan; parents, Luis and Eufemia Barragan; and siblings, Stanley Barragan, Severo Barragan, Luis Barragan and Manuel Barragan and Brenda Landry.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Melius, William Richardson, Harmon Downs, Randy Smith, Nathan Hickman, and Michael Dupont. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Richardson and Harold Melius
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Wednesday, May 01, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will continue at St. Isidore Catholic Church 5657 Thomas Road, Baton Rouge on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM until Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM conducted by Father Frank Bass. Graveside service with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker, LA.
