Lillian Joann Achord Harrell

Lillian Joann Achord Harrell, "Goose", age 86, resident of Central, Louisiana, born January 9, 1940 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026. Joann was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. She retired from the Louisiana Department of Labor as an analyst.

Joann was very dedicated to her family, church family and friends and enjoyed spending time with each one of them. She loved to laugh and loved good food. Earlier in life she was a member of the Baton Rouge Campers Club and served as secretary at one point. She was great at keeping good records and remembering each event. Recently she gained a passion for sewing, ceramics, diamond art and puzzles. She truly loved all her pets and had great compassion for all animals.

Joann is survived by son, Ben Saclo, Jr. (Bentena) of Bothel, Washington; daughter Vickie Populas (Terry) of Independence, LA; son, Bobbie Joe Harrell, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Debbie Thornton Favaron (Ronnie) of Denham Springs; daughter, Barbara Saclo Matthews (the late Chris, MD) of Kingsport, TN; daughter Cynthia Lulu Saclo of Central, LA; Toni Maria Harrell of Central, LA; and son, Richard Harrell (Tami) of Walker, LA. She is also survived by twenty four grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and special friends Shawntel Landry and Ethan Simmers.

Joann is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Bobbie Joe Harrell, Sr.; parents, Brice "BB" and Lucille Achord; in laws, Aubrey and Lenora Smith Harrell; brother, Brice Achord, III; sister Barbara Quinn Nichols; son James Hutchinson, Jr.; son-in-laws Chris Matthews, MD and Dewayne Thornton; and grandson, James Matthews.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Temple Baptist Church, 3650 O'Neal Lane, Baton Rouge, 70816 from 11AM until 1PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 1PM. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6213 Groom Road, Baker, LA 70714. A Celebration of Life will begin after the burial back at Temple Baptist Church. Pallbearers: Richard Harrell, Joshua Roubique, Stephen Roubique, Shawn Tosh, Sr., Shawn Tosh, Jr., Tim Matthews, Devin House, and Ethan Simmers. Honorary Pallbearers: Ben Saclo, Jr., Toni Maria Harrell, John Foundos, Harrison Wright, , Bonnie Matthews House.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ochsner Medical Center, Feliciana Home Healthcare, Clarity Hospice, Toni Maria Harrell and Barbara Matthews for continuous love and care. Thanks to all family members, friends and Temple Baptist Church Family for continued support and love throughout her lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, donations collected will be given to Heart and Soul Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, Louisiana in Joann's memory.
