Floyd E. Bliss, 92, of Steuben St., Addison, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Steuben Center for Rehabilitation in Bath.
Born in the Town of Tuscarora, NY on June 16, 1931, Floyd was the son of the late Phillip and Hazel Eaton Bliss. He was a 1950 graduate of Addison Central School.
Floyd entered the US Army in May 1952, serving until April 1954 which included deployment to Korea during the Korean Conflict. Returning from the service, Floyd began a 42 year career with the Ingersoll Rand Co and later Dresser Rand, where he worked as an assembly tester. On July 24, 1998, Floyd married the former Nelle Groves in Addison.
Following his retirement, he drove for AIM/AUTO for 10 years and Steuben Coordinated Transportation for 18 years. Floyd was a member and Past Master of the Union Lodge F&AM in Addison as well as Williams-Greengrass American Legion Post in Addison.
Floyd was an avid camper, loved working in his yard gardening and planting flowers He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with things and was "Mr. Fix It" in the neighborhood.
Surviving are his wife, Nelle Bliss of Addison, his daughter, Donna (Lauren Jr) Taylor of Addison and James (Maria) Bliss of Camillus, NY, his step children, Rebecca (Steve) Chappell of Alaska, Carol Andrews (Linn Slater) of Addison and Jason (Susan) Andrews of Addison, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his brother, Carl (Alberta) Bliss of Horseheads, his best buddy, Aiden Gonzalez, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Elmer Bliss and his step son, George Andrews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 9 from noon to 2 and 4 to 6 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be conducted there on Wednesday at 11 am with Rev. Troy Preston officiating.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at the Williams-Greengrass American Legion Post in Addison.
Memorial donations may be made in Floyd's honor to Williams-Greengrass American Legion Post or RSVP/ Steuben Coordinated Transportation.
