Celebrating a Life Well Lived
Floyd Stephen Bross, age 68, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 1, 1957, in El Paso, Texas, to Robert Donald Bross and Julia Mary Zoodie-Bross.
Floyd was a proud graduate of South San Antonio High School and later built a successful career with Pruitt Tool and Kopco, where his work ethic and dedication earned him deep respect from his colleagues. On June 28, 1986, he married the love of his life, Shelly Hayes, at the Dallas Country Club in Dallas, Texas. Together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to their family.
A man of faith, Floyd found joy and purpose in serving others and living each day with gratitude. He was known for his generous heart, kind spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His gentle nature and larger-than-life personality lit up every room he entered, and his contagious smile left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Floyd approached every role in life-husband, father, son, brother, and friend-with complete dedication, giving more than 100% in all that he did.
He loved spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing, and watching sports. His family and friends will always remember him as a man of great warmth, humor, and heart.
Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Shelly Bross; his sons, Rane Stephen Bross, Luke Allan Bross and wife Morgan, and Cole Donovan Bross; his mother, Julia Margaret Zoodie Bross; his brother, Robert Donald Bross, Jr. and wife Julia; and his sister, Julia Margaret Kerr and husband James. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Donald Bross, and his brother, Alex Allan Bross. Floyd will also be fondly remembered by numerous loving family members and many wonderful friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the River Glenn Chapel, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Honorary pallbearers will be Rane Bross, Luke Bross, Cole Bross, Robert "Bob" Bross and G.W. Stringer. The Celebration of Life and late lunch will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Pruitt Tool, 9700 Aire Circle, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
In honor of Floyd's generous spirit, memorial contributions may be made to The Make-A-Wish Foundation or to the Bross Family Meal Train at https://mealtrain.com/0d87m4 in support of Shelly and their family.
Floyd's life was a testament to love, laughter, and faith. He will be deeply missed, but his light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
