Floyd Collins Sr. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on January 30, 2026, after an extended illness.

Floyd began his career at Republic Steel Mill before being drafted into the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served with the 1st Division, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, spending 13 months on active duty overseas in Hue City during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Floyd returned home and resumed his work at the steel mill, where he dedicated 39 years before retiring.

In 1969, Floyd married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Johnson-Collins. Their officiant was the late Reverend Eil Holiman. Together, they built a beautiful family of four children. They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage in March.

After marriage, Floyd deepened his faith and became a devoted member of Tabernacle COGIC in Warren, Ohio, where he worshiped for many years and served in various capacities within the church. Throughout the years, Floyd worshiped and served in various churches. He was also a virtual member.

Floyd's greatest joy was his family. He loved raising his children and being an active part of their lives. Family time and good soul food meant everything to him, and he believed strongly in sticking together as one. Known as a protector, provider, and a man of honor and integrity, Floyd lived by values that inspired all who knew him.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. and Essie Mae McCoy Collins; stepmother, Henrietta Collins; brothers, Walter McCoy, William Collins, and Edward L. Collins Jr.; sister, Abigail (Collins) Keene; and grandson, Kenneth Carmichael Jr.; and nephew, Curtis E. Keene

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Joyce Ann Collins; daughters, Marvela Collins-Jobe (Mamadou) and DeVonna Collins-Carmichael (Kenneth); son, Floyd Collins Jr. (Letisha) and Tamala Maccarthy; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola and Bertilla Collins of Warren, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
