Floyd Gant Obituary
Floyd dedicated 20 years of his professional life as a switchboard operator at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, where he was known for his unwavering commitment and friendly demeanor. His colleagues often remarked on his warm voice and helpful nature, which left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
Beyond his professional career, Floyd was a devoted family man and cherished his role as a father and grandfather. He was a great father who loved his family deeply and found immense joy in their company. His wife, Georgia Gant, and his children, Phillip Gant, Michael Kennely, Roger Kennely (Quana), and stepdaughter Kim who will forever remember the love and guidance he provided throughout their lives. His legacy continues through his beloved grandson, Greg Kennely. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Lillian Gant Farrish, special nephew James Dixon, as well as a many beloved nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
Floyd had a passion for music, most notably as an accomplished jazz saxophonist under the name Flat 5. His soulful melodies and improvisational skills brought joy to many. In addition to his musical talents, Floyd was an avid bird watcher and wildlife enthusiast, finding peace and inspiration in the natural world. He enjoyed riding his bike, fishing at the coast, and spending time on the golf course, pursuing his hobbies with the same dedication he applied to all aspects of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Jones and Martha Gant. Siblings Marcella Gant Jones, Esther Gant Jones, James Oliver Gant, Grace Gant Thomas, and Herman Eugene Gant.
The services to honor Floyd's life are on August 9, 2025 at Providence Church of God in Christ, located at 1210 Montlieu Ave, High Point NC, 27262 from 10am-12pm.
Piedmont Cremation and Funeral Services are assisting the family at this time.
