Funeral services for Floyd Thurston Holmes, Jr., age 73, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the Chan Stanley Memorial Chapel of Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow in Brewton Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Walker and Mr. Dylan Pettis will officiate.
Mr. Holmes was born on October 9, 1950, in Dublin, Georgia. He was a self-employed roofer and was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Thurston Holmes, Sr. and Evelyn Woodard Holmes; siblings, Johnny Ray Holmes and Mary Jane Holmes; and son, Adam Seth Holmes. Mr. Holmes passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Holmes of Dublin; two sons, John Paul Holmes (Edie) and James Eli Holmes (Renae) both of Dublin; daughter, Nikki Scott of Dublin; two siblings, Tommy Lee Holmes and Linda Sue Brantley both of East Dublin; eight grandchildren, McKinley Jordan, Stephenie Schmittel, Stephen White, Emily Strickland, Lexi Beck, Landon Lumpkin, Rayleigh Scarborough and Chandler Spivey, and six great grandchildren, Zachary Schmittel, Elizabeth Schmittel, Brookelyn Schmittel, Ryan White, Kayla White and Noah Strickland.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Pettis, Lance Holmes, Brian Bahle, Sam Beall, Michael Simons and Matthew Simons.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Heights Baptist Church Missions Program, 1780 Hwy 441, Dublin, GA 31021.
