Floyd Jonas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home - Mount Holly on Sep. 12, 2022.
Floyd "Bud" Jonas, 89, of Stanley, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was born and raised in North Belmont to the late Henry Walter Jonas and Nora Lee Campbell Jonas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Russell, Richard, Fred and Paul Jonas; and two sisters, Daisy Guen and Lucille Vause. Bud proudly served in the U.S. Army. He played baseball in high school and the Belmont mill league teams, where he was well known for being an outstanding catcher. He was active in the Stanley community by coaching youth baseball and basketball in the recreation league. He loved God, his family, his church and friends. Bud was a devoted and active member of Pearl Baptist Church, Iron Station. He had a huge personality and infectious smile, which would light up a room when he walked in. Bud was a huge Tarheel and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved spending time with his grandson Dosi, his pride and joy. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Pansy, of 66 years; his daughter, Donna Gail Jonas; his grandson, Matthew "Dosi" Jonas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Pearl Baptist, Church, 4657 NC-27, Iron Station, NC 28080. A service to celebrate his life will be held immediately following at 2:00, also at the church. Interment will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mount Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pearl Baptist Church Building Fund at pearlbc.org/give now (select Give to Building (Match)) or to Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd. Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
