Floyd Nilsen, 78, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on October 2, 2025 at Campbell County Health.
Funeral service for Floyd Nilsen will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ernie Bishop officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services starting at 10:00 a.m.
Floyd Nilsen was born on June 12, 1947, to Milo and Ardys (Foss) Nilsen in Hettinger, ND. He was the 2nd of 5 children. He grew up in Shadehill, SD. Floyd attended grade school then graduated from High School in 1966 from Hettinger High School.
He married Jackie (Seidel) Nilsen on September 12, 1975, and lived on the Nilsen place in Shadehill, SD where they raised 3 boys Billy, Darren and Chris.
Floyd worked various jobs; farmed and ranched until 1990 then moved to Hulett, WY, where he worked for Neiman Sawmill for several years. Then moved to Gillette, WY where he worked in the Oil and gas field for several years, then ending his career working for Gillette Wastewater Division in 2025.
Among Floyd’s favorite things was spending time with his boys, his grandchildren and his friends. He also enjoyed his coffee time and attending his lunches at the Senior Center and was known for having the gift of gab. Floyd never met anyone he couldn’t talk to, and honestly enjoyed talking with them, he was always known to have his little side kick Stitch with him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Billy and Dianne (Amiotte) Seidel, their children and grandchildren: Jeremy Amiotte and Priscilla; Aspen; Savannah Greseth; Cydell, Shaylee; Jhene’, Cedar, Azílya, Tokatakiya. Miranda and Nate Wood; Madi and Mylee. Sammi Seidel; Baylor; son Darren and Shelby Nilsen along with their children and grandchildren: Bryleigh; Brittany; Dustin; Skyler; Nevaeh; and Ashton; sister Mardel Martin, brother Roger Nilsen. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were very special to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Milo and Ardys Nilsen; ex-wife Jackie Nilsen; son Chris Nilsen; siblings Merle Nilsen, Leonard Nilsen; mother and father-in-law Jack and Selma Seidel; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Following, on Friday, October 17, 2025, there will be a viewing at at 10:00 am at Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD, with a graveside service being held at 11:00 am at Greenhills Cemetery also located in Lemmon, SD.
