Floyd Sutherland Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home - Worthington on Mar. 6, 2026.
Floyd "Frank" Franklin Sutherland II, lovingly known as Frank, passed away at the age of 73 on February 18, 2026 - a man who lived boldly, fully, and without hesitation.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sue Sutherland; his daughter, Marla Sutherland, 37; his sister, Deb Kastelic; his brother, Joe Sutherland; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, lifelong friends - and his beloved bees. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Alice Ann Sutherland, and his nephews, Kurt and Ben Sutherland.

Frank was, as Sue described him, "the salt of the earth." He believed we are all on this earth together, called to respect both the land and each other. That belief lived in everything he did - from rock climbing and backpacking to homesteading and beekeeping. Fearless and determined, he took up rock climbing at 65 simply because he was never one to back down from a challenge. He worked hard, laughed deeply, and never did anything halfway.

Professionally, Frank was an exceptional mentor and leader in operations management and strategic planning, including a distinguished tenure at FedEx. He had a rare gift for building strong teams and bringing out the best in people - many credit him not just with professional growth, but with shaping them into better leaders and better people.

His family was bigger than blood. Frank "could never be inconvenienced" - if you needed him, he was there, no hesitation, no complaint. He showed up again and again for family, friends, neighbors, and strangers, always leading with integrity, generosity, and a contagious laugh. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, mentorship, and devotion to both people and the planet.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the National Parks Conservation Association. A Celebration of Life will be held in Frank's honor, expected on May 2, 2026. To be added to the invitation list and receive event details, please email [email protected]
