On April 29, 1950, Floyd Thompson and his twin brother was born to A.J. Thompson, and Jeroline Hyder Thompson, in Bastrop Texas.
At an early age, Floyd confessed a hope in Christ and became a member of Mt. Rose Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend D.M. Hall.
Floyd attended Emile High school in Bastrop Texas. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving in the military, Floyd excelled to the rank of Sergeant. During his tour of duty, Floyd was stationed at Nellis air Force Base in Nevada and in Germany. After serving Four years, he received an honorable discharge.
Upon his release from the Air Force, Floyd resided in San Antonio Texas. Floyd joined the New Hope Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as an Usher. Floyd later moved to Austin, Texas and worked several years at Seton Hospital before retiring.
After moving to Austin, Floyd joined the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Utley Texas. Floyd served on the Usher Board and was President of the Junior Ushers. Floyd loved his position as a door keeper in the Lord's House. Floyd later became the Superintendent of the Sunday School. He faithfully attended church and loved working in the church. Floyd loved his church duties and church family. Floyd was a loyal and faithful Servant of God.
Upon retirement, Floyd returned to his hometown of Bastrop. Floyd accepted a part-time position at Tracy Store and was friendly to all the neighborhood customers.
Floyd never married and had no children, but he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own.
On August 29, 2022, at 8:59PM, the Lord called Floyd's name and he answered.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Floyd leaves to cherish his memories, three sisters, Margaret A. Moore of Austin, Texas, Maedell Thompson of San Antonio, Texas and Adell Halton of Bastrop, Texas, his twin brother, Lloyd Thompson of San Antonio, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Floyd will be greatly missed by his family, friends, the community and his church family.

Uncle Floyd was a true gentleman...A real Man of God...I never heard him say a mean word to or about anybody...I just hope he knew how proud I was of him and how much I love him.RIH
