Victoria Faye Fuqua (58) passed from this life on September 28, 2024 in Austin, Texas while surrounded by family.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Lee Brian Fuqua, her daughter Aimee Cook, her son Chris Fuqua and his wife Leah, plus the grandkids who loved their Mamaw beyond measure: Josalyn and Alister Cook, Zayden Byrd and Claire Fuqua. She also leaves behind her sister Jessi, who like Brian, Aimee, and Chris considered Vickie to be her best friend. Additionally, she leaves behind nieces and nephews, whom she loved, as well as other family, beloved friends, and her dogs. Vickie is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Fuqua, her father Thomas Furry, and her older brother Eldie Furry, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was the beloved rock of the entire family, whose pride and joy were her kids and grandkids. She loved spending time with family, whether it be at home or on vacation. She could always be counted on for a big hug, and for the grandkids, the goozle game. She also passes along the mantra: "A-B-C: Always be careful!"
She enjoyed traveling and new adventures. Months before this, she and her sister Jessi had begun walking each day while video-chatting, in order to prepare to hike a section of the Appalachian trail in 2026, alongside several members of the family. She enjoyed live theater, and she and her husband Brian often made it a point to attend shows at the Bastrop Opera House (especially when their granddaughter was on stage), as well as other small live theater venues in the area. She enjoyed playing games with her family, from video games to board and card games. She was a reader - living hundreds of lives and adventures between the covers of books. She passed along this love of reading, sharing several favorite authors with others in the family.
She was an incredibly supportive and loving mom to Aimee and Chris, who count themselves blessed to have had her as their mother. She loved her husband Brian and the adventures in life they shared: from country-living, to kids, beloved pets, tae-kwon-do, Scouts, and then to grandbabies. She looked forward to walking through life with him.
While it was not in our plans to lose her in this life so soon, we are grateful for the time and memories we shared.
We will move forward in this life knowing her spirit, laughter, and wisdom live inside all who loved her. We look forward to the day we all get to reunite.
