Floyd Tilton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Orender Family Home on Mar. 4, 2026.
Floyd Joseph Tilton, 63, of Manasquan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his lifelong home on March 2, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on October 5, 1962, in Point Pleasant, Floyd was a true hometown man. He was raised in the very home where he would later build his own life, raise his family, and create decades of memories. Manasquan wasn't just where he lived; it was who he was. Floyd was the definition of salt of the earth. Kind, strong, hardworking, caring, and endlessly funny, he was the kind of man who would drop everything to help someone in need. If you needed him, he was there, no hesitation, no complaint. He would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice.

He was a proud small business owner and general contractor with more than 40 years of experience. Floyd believed in doing things the right way - not the easy way. A true perfectionist, he took immense pride in his craft. His work was more than a career; it was a reflection of his character. Floyd was a member of the Manasquan Elks and proudly supported his daughters and wife through Manasquan Pop Warner and Warrior Cheer Club for many years. But above all else, Floyd was a family man. He was the devoted husband of Debbie Tilton, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage. Together they built a home filled with laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love. He was a proud and loving girl dad. Nothing made Floyd happier than providing for and being present with his girls. He wasn't loud or flashy; just steady, humble, and always right. He gave the kind of advice that felt solid and immovable, the kind you trusted without question.

His greatest joy in recent years was becoming "Pop" to his beloved grandson, Mason Joseph. Whether goofing around, building with magnatiles, or reading books together, Floyd cherished every moment with him. At home, Floyd loved the simple things: watching the History Channel, tending to his garden, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying a late-night snack. He loved his dogs, the sound of a fiddle, and rock music was always playing in his home - a constant soundtrack to family dinners, weekend projects, and everyday life. His sayings "Don't think, just do" and "Sayonara, see you tomorrow" - will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Floyd was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and William Tilton. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Debbie Tilton; his loving daughters, Jenna and her husband Patrick Cacio, Diana Tilton, Leaha Tilton and her fiancé Thomas Pollock, and Erika Tilton; and his cherished grandson, Mason Joseph Cacio, who Floyd referred to as his favorite person. He is also survived by his brothers, Ray Grosskopf and his wife Debbie, William Tilton and his wife Linda Doherty, and Donald Tilton; his nieces and nephews, Scott, Nick, David, Chris, Michelle, Drew, Stacey, and Jamie; his sister-in-law Diane Layton, her husband Thomas Layton, and their daughter Scarlett; and many great-nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday March 6, 2026, from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am on Saturday March 7, 2026, at St Denis Church, Manasquan, NJ. Interment will follow at Atlantic View Cemetery & Mausoleum.
