Jean E. McLean

Jean E. (nee Merry) McLean, 81, of Sea Girt, passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2026, at Jersey Shore University Medical Centre, Neptune, with her loving family by her side. Jean was born in Jamaica, NY and raised in Bellerose, NY. She was a graduate of Floral Park Memorial High School. After high school Jean worked for Coca Cola International for five years as a statistical typist and worked her way up to supervisor. Jean had lived in Bellerose before moving to Landing, NJ in 1969, where she raised her family. Jean and her family later moved to Freehold Township in 1977. After she raised her family Jean went back to working as an HR professional for almost 8 years working for McGraw Hill and Ansell before her retirement.

During her retirement, Jean remained very active. For 18 years, she was a member of the Women of Irish Heritage, serving as President of the Jersey Shore Chapter from 2019 to 2022. Jean faced many challenges during her presidency….dealing with Covid, no meetings, fundraisers, no dues and no guaranteed meeting space. Despite all of this, the group was still able to contribute to the various charities that depend on these funds. As Jean put it, "with little, we did much."

Jean was predeceased by her parents James and Madeline Merry. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years John McLean of Sea Girt. Jean is also survived by her loving children Christine (Paul) Soll of Brick, Nicole (Charles) Webber of Lone Tree, CO, and Diane McLean of Deland, FL. She was the cherished grandmother of Casey Jean, Samantha, and Charlie.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday March 5, 2026, from 5-8 pm at Orender family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan NJ 08736. There will be a prayer service held on Friday March 6, 2026, at 10:30 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Women of Irish Heritage of the Jersey Shore Scholarship Fund 2001 Marconi Road Wall NJ 07719.
