Floyd Wetzig Obituary
Floyd Maurice Wetzig, of Manton, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Ohana AFC Home in Manton with family by his side. Floyd is finally free in Heaven from his earthly sickness and disabilities. He was 83.
Floyd was born on August 1, 1940 in McKinley Township, Taylor County, Wisconsin to Eugene and Edna (Rockstad) Wetzig, where he was raised on the family's dairy farm. His family later relocated to Michigan, where he became a longtime member of the Manton Baptist Church. Floyd lived with his parents his whole life, and spent the last 8 years at Ohana AFC Home, where the staff lovingly cared for him. He spent some time over the years working at St. John's Table Factory as well as working as a Christmas Tree bailer. In his spare time, Floyd enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was going fishing, or on camping trips. He enjoyed taking pictures and videos, and loved listening to music. He liked sharing a smile and he always laughed at a good corny joke. Floyd enjoyed making special trips to McDonald's to get his favorite treat, a Filet-o-Fish sandwich. He cherished the time spent with his family and loved family gatherings where everyone could be together.
Floyd is survived by his loving siblings, David (Nancy) Wetzig of Manton, Sharon Taylor of Manton, Nathan Wetzig of Manton, Pam (Tom) Henry of Lake City, and Kathy (Kevin) Lytle of Byron Center; brother-in-law, Leroy Roderick; lots of nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edna Wetzig; sister, Geraldine Roderick; brother-in-law, Al Taylor; both of his paternal and maternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and ten nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Manton Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior beginning at 10 a.m. Rev. Dan Hemmes will preside. Interment will take place at Fairview cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Singing Pines Campground.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Manton Baptist Church.
