Mr. Floyd "Buddy" E. Wilson, 51, was born on March 27, 1973, in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was raised by adoptive parents, the late Thomas C. Wilson, and Cora J. Wilson at the tender age of seven. Floyd resided in McKees Rocks, PA. "Buddy" as he was affectionately called, departed this life on Friday, December 6, 2024. Buddy left a remarkable impression on everyone he knew and encountered. He had a happy go lucky type personality, very loving, always upbeat and did not anger easily. He forgave quickly and did not hold grudges. He was a kindhearted soul that would always say "I Love You".
Floyd received his education in the public school system.
Buddy found his love for music at a young age. He was mentored and greatly influenced by the late, great, Mrs. Irma E. James, a prolific piano player and one of Shiloh's most beloved members and Ministers of Music. Craig Cooley was also instrumental in the development of Buddy's love for music. A self-taught musician, Buddy could sing as well as play the piano by ear. When Buddy sang, one could feel his passion. His gift opened many doors around Erie as he played at several different churches serving as both organist and pianist. Buddy played the piano for eight years at The New Making a Difference Ministries, Inc., for Apostle Gertrude House. They made a CD at a studio in New York. Buddy was tremendous blessing to the ministry. Buddy also had a position as pianist at Second Baptist Church, in McKees Rocks, PA. Having a love for different genres of music, Buddy's favorite song was "Beautiful Ride" by Dewey Cox, from the movie "Walk Hard".
Buddy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, with an extensive collection of hats, tees and jerseys from both teams. If you saw him, he would be sporting a Pittsburgh Steelers Jersey or Pittsburgh Pirates hat.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Wilson; two brothers, Claude E. Hinton, and Lester Williams; and grandmother, Pecolia Davis Tate.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his three children, Jania Farrow, of Cambridge Springs, PA, Jay'Chel Thomas Wilson and Ra'Nia Eve Wilson; his significant other, Rachel Grachen of McKees Rocks, PA; his mother, Cora J. Wilson, of Erie; five sisters, Doris Johnson of Erie, Daphne Johnson of Erie, Tracie Bonnick (Ricardo) of Leesburg, FL, Leisha Ross (Pelinton) of Bowie MD and Donna Upshur of Beaver, PA; five nephews, Steffon Johnson of Erie, Junius "Jay" Johnson of Erie, Ryan Johnson of Erie, Wade Davidson Jr. (Nadia) of West Palm Beach, FL and Devon Bonnick, (Muriel) of Dallas, TX; two nieces, Wadina Sinclair, (Carlynton) of Sunrise, FL and Crystal Leggette (Albert) of Augusta, GA; a biological aunt, Georgianne Jackson of Wilkins, PA; and a host of great nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
We, the family of Mr. Floyd E. Wilson, acknowledge with gratitude and appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, messages, food and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. We pray God's grace and mercy shine upon each of you.
Family and friends may call at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 East 5th Street, on Friday, December 20th, from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Service at Noon, officiated by Rev. Anthony G. Harris, Senior Pastor. Interment will follow at Erie Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
